The best places to kayak in Gulf Shores are away from the ocean. While you can bring a kayak to the ocean, sometimes the water can be a bit choppy and unpredictable. With currents and waves, if you’re a beginner or intermediate paddler then that can be a bit intimidating.
Little Lagoon and Gulf State Park offer the most relaxing and beginner friendly kayak experiences.
- Little Lagoon: Calm, protected waters, perfect for families and beginner paddlers, with over 2,500 acres of water to explore. It’s connected to Gulf State Park through narrow canals, opening up even more places to discover.
- Gulf State Park: If you’re up for a bit more of a challenge, Gulf State Park offers beautiful paddling areas. There’s also restaurants you can stop at for a midday bite.
